Frequently Asked Questions about George the Virtual DJ

Do I have to be a computer geek to make George the Virtual DJ work?

NO!!! I designed this system so that a person with no computer experience can operate it in just a few minutes!  There are only three display windows and everything is clearly marked. Since it's touch screen operated....if you can point you can pick songs and operate the system.

Can George do a multi-event party?

Absolutely!  George is pre-loaded with a variety of background music selections that can be selected in addition to the play list you created online! 
Here's one possible example of a corporate event.

Cocktails:  Martini Lounge Jazz Mix (Press STOP to have the music fade out)
Welcome:  Microphone for welcome and any speeches or awards.
Dinner:  Piano Jazz Mix (Press PLAY) (After dinner, press STOP to have the music fade out)
Start the Dancing:  Microphone to announce the start of dancing.
Dance music:  Playlist selected online (Press PLAY)
Requests:  Guests can search for and add their favorite songs using the Touch Screen!
Party End:  Press STOP to have the music fade out when the party is over!

All of this can be loaded when the system is set-up. I will work with you prior to the event to make sure you have everything you need. Once George is set up, you'll be instructed on how to operate the system and you'll be walked through the entire event.

Do I have to pick music online?

While most people love the idea of picking their music online, you don't have to! George is pre-loaded with a variety of basic play lists that can either get the party started or keep it going for the entire event. Plus you can invite your guests to pick their favorites using the simple touch screen interface!

How do I pick the music online?

Just click on any button that says 'Music' anywhere on this website. Once at the selection tool use the various 'Filters' to bring up the songs in that particular music style. To select a song, just press the "Yellow" button. It's now part of your Playlist.  You can also search for particular artists or specific songs using the appropriate search boxes.  You can also browse all artist or songs that begin a specific letter. If you have iTunes on your computer you can also sample specific songs using the speaker symbol at the far left and the symbol next to that will bring up lyrics for many of the songs.

At the top of the form you'll see a button for 'Most Requested.'  This is based on national samples and while I'll have more that 95% of those songs, there are a few that George will not have because they were not popular in this area.

When you're done, you can save the list so you can come back and add more songs, print the list or when you are ready to send it to us, just use the 'Submit' button

Can I plug my iPod into George?

George is a complete, self contained professional DJ system. The more than 3,900 songs are fully licensed as is the software programs that make George work.  There is no option to plug in any external device.  Frankly there really is no need. The music is updated monthly with the latest hits. If there is a specific song that you must have that's not on our online library....talk with me.

Are there any lighting options?

At this time, there are no extra lighting options.  The "Vertigo" light that comes with George is one of the most popular sound activated lights among professional DJs. It is turned on and off with a cord mounted switch and can fill the room with over 30 bright multi-colored dots of LED light that dance to the beat of the music!  It's even safe to leave on the entire evening!

Can George do my wedding reception?

A Wedding Reception is a big, important, once in a lifetime celebration that REALLY requires a professional Master of Ceremonies/DJ, to coordinate all the events, make all the important announcements and time the music to specific events!  George CANNOT to that!  I designed George for the party that requires no MC....just great music that you and your guests want.  I do NOT recommend George for Wedding Receptions. However, George is PERFECT for engagement parties, rehearsal dinners, graduations, birthday parties, anniversaries, corporate parties, sweet 16 parties, open houses, pool parties, and more! What do I have to provide if I want George to DJ my party?

For indoor events all you'll have to provide is a table or counter about 6' long next to the dance area and a standard electrical outlet within 10 feet of the table.

Can I have George do an outdoor party?

YES!!  George loves to play outdoors.  The system is powerful enough to provide sound for a large area, but please keep the neighbors in mind.  I do however require that George be protected from the elements; both sun and rain.  If you party is under a tent or near a place where George can be set up under a covered area (say at the opening of a garage), there are no problems. George also requires regulated power.  An outlet no more than 75 feet away or a commercial regulated generator.  A small portable emergency generator will not work.

Is George Reliable?

George has been the DJ at dozens of parties and has a 100% satisfaction rating! People love to interact with the system; picking their favorite music. However, if there is a power outage, the system will shut down. Once power is restored, pressing the 'Power' button and reloading your playlist gets the party going in a few minutes. Should any other problems arise, you'll have a phone number for support and we have a back-up unit standing by at all times.
